A collection of collective data-collection projects by the Escape Collective community

EC members have started a number of projects to crowdsource information that would be useful to cyclists in general. This is a place to round all these up.

If you know of any similar projects by/for EC members, please add them here.

  • The Escape Collective cycling cafe map
You should be able to edit this directly—click the Edit button at the top of the sidebar. When adding a new spot, click the proper region from the list before adding!
    • Cafe: Blue, Coffee Cup icon
    • Lunch/Food: Orange, Food & Drink icon
    • Bar: Green, Martini icon
    • Use your judgement and add descriptions
  • On-bike nutrition data
There are separate tabs for solids and liquids. Some of this is straight factual data, some of it is your subjective rating.

On the map, it overlays over my Google maps and I’m not sure how to add a café or microbrewery.

  • Click the checkbox for your region.
  • Click Edit at the top of the sidebar.
  • Zoom way in to find your location.
  • Click the Add Marker button (the little pinpoint) under the search bar.
  • Click on the map and add the location’s details.

I think you should also be able to click on a café’s existing Google Maps listing and select “add to map”. That should add it to the EC Map but also automatically pull through the listing from Google Maps (with opening times, contact details etc.)

I’m on my Android phone, I can get the location but I don’t seem to be able to add.

Does it have to be done on a computer or am I missing something?

I’m not sure if you need to be on a desktop computer, but I am sure it would be a lot easier.
