$150 worth of fenders on a $30 bike

It’s pretty dead around here, so I thought I’d toss my vintage Schwinn out there. I bought this rig on my birthday last year from FB marketplace (which I’ve since deleted since I can’t be trusted to not buy bikes like this). It was a little rough but cleaned up nicely with a couple new parts and a little effort.

It’s a Collegiate 3 speed with a Sturmey-Archer IGH and a coaster brake. I recently relocated the shifter from the handlebar to the downtube and now it shifts flawlessly. The wood fenders were a Christmas gift from my family because they knew that I wanted them but wouldn’t spend the money on myself. I’d like to think that the bike leans more classy than twee, but if not, so be it.

It’s pretty comfy, really heavy, and the gearing is pretty tall, so I just use it for cruising around town. I know it’s not the usual EC fare, but I hope a few of you dig it.
