Waxed Chain Options On Ultra Endurance Event

I’m doing The Crusher this weekend, a 200 mile off road event in the Keweenaw Peninsula. I’ll be starting with a hot waxed chain (Silca SS w/ the endurance chip). Between the distance and the buffet of water crossings and flooded two tracks, there’s no chance I don’t have to top off (multiple times) during the event.

What is the working consensus on the most durable route I could go? I’ll be on a SS with an 8 speed chain, so I’m honestly not that worried about chain wear, mainly focused on what will be longer lasting and quiet(ish). I can deal with cleaning up whatever mess I have after the event.

At my disposal I currently have: T9, Squirt, UFO all conditions drip. Willing to pick something up if there is a compelling reason to.

Silca’s Synergetic is reportedly the best oil-based lube in terms of efficiency. I would start with the waxed chain and then top off with Synergetic as needed.

Agree with @VeloBouf. Drip waxes (T9/Squirt/UFO drip) all need to dry/cure before they are effective, so no good for topping up mid-ride. So topping up with a top wet lube (Silca Synergetic, Rex Black Diamond etc.) is the best option.

When you get home, either thoroughly clean the chain before waxing again, or if it’s well used anyway, just replace it.

Well shit, TIL T9 is paraffin wax in a solvent. I have some Dumond Tech Original that should fit the bill. Thanks!
