Hi,
I’ve just bought a second hand indoor trainer - a Wahoo Kickr Core, and I’m looking to understand if I’ve been sold a dud.
the trainer makes a really loud running noise in use. The noise is definitely from the trainer itself and it really clearly audibly coming from the fly wheel area. If there’s a way to attach a video I can try and do that?
is this just a full re-buy, is there a way for me to fix this, and/or (hopefully) is there something really stupid and obvious that I’m missing like a travel break or something that’s been installed that I would need to remove?
Thanks all!
Maybe a bit of a long shot, but my Wahoo Core was making very loud noise. The gray arrow stickers were peeling off and flapping around. As soon as the stickers flew off, the trainer was much quieter.

It could be that the flywheel bearings are going. This can happen. When you turn the flywheel by hand, do you get the sensation of rough bearings?
If it is the bearings, then in principle they can be replaced. There’s vids on YouTube about how to disassemble the trainer enough to access the bearings. I don’t know if every store has the right tooling to extract the bearings, however.

It’s actually pretty easy to do, and the bearings are pretty big & robust so a Heath Robinson approach to getting them off and putting them back on is unlikely to harm them. There’s 4 in total, but you might get away with only replacing 2 of them.

If I recall, this is the bearing - 6003Z:
