Why not do this for non Transmission groups also?
Forced move for sure, Shimano played speed a lot at the Di2 announcement.
They also have a more flexible configuration approach, you can both tune the shift speed and set an ebike mode toggle if you want surer shifting.

Are you referring to the older AXS components? If so, then the firmware update isn’t needed as the earlier generation AXS components already shifted noticeably faster than Transmission. This was a commonly noticed trait called out in many early Transmission reviews around the web
