We’ve got a customer with a custom Calfee tandem bike, older with an HG driver, Shimano Dura Ace drivetrain. He’s looking to upgrade this and go with modern SRAM flattop shifting, surely 12sp Red. Anyone have any crankset solutions for this? He’s got a Chris King hub, so swapping out drivers shouldn’t be an issue Cassette-wise.
We called SRAM and they directed us to Appleman for custom 2XR tandem cranks. Our customer is okay with this and Appleman quality is good, but the aesthetic is a bit off. The finish sheen isn’t quite right on the bike, and it looks amiss compared to the previous FSA/Shimano cranks with their smooth glossy finish and rounded edges.
