# Shimano di2 with SunRace 12 speed cassette?

I’ve got a couple shimano HG freehub bodied mtn wheels. I’ve successfully run SunRace 11-50, 12 speed cassettes with GRX and XT/XTR mechanical setups using shimano 12 speed chains on them. Has anyone tried the new GRX or XT di2 12 speed stuff with the SunRace 12 speed 11-50 cassettes? Shifting performance? I’ve got a project bike in mind and don’t really fancy buying a new rear wheel. The hubs I am using are XTR M9010-B which you cannot switch to micro spline.

I haven’t but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. Shimano’s MTB mechanical and Di2 12sp systems use the same cassettes.

From a weight/performance standpoint, you could also take a look at Garbaruk cassettes. They make an 11-52 12sp HG cassette.

I built a customer’s OPEN U.P. 2.0 with GRX Di2 12sp and a SunRace cassette - shifting was difference was damn near negligible Vs a Shimano cassette.
