Rusty Ritchey rims

See photos (in replies - couldn’t upload in starting post): alloy Ritchey Zeta discs from around 2021. Rust problem at the valve opening, I could remove material by hand (while it is Summer here right now, so these wheels haven’t been wet for a while!). There’s also dirt/material inside the rim bed. Used in all weather conditions (commute), but always parked inside (dry and heated room). Regularly switched between tubed/tubeless, last months have been tubed.

Already contacted LBS - in the meantime, is this rideable still? Or put aside to be safe?

Anyone had the same experience?

Adding an update here, just in case: LBS said the wheels are out of warranty, so I’m out of luck. I’ll keep riding on my carbon wheelsets - at least those don’t rust!

I had also noticed rust on the nipples of this Zeta wheelset. Something that did not happen on another (cheaper) alloy wheelset I have, and which I have used in the same circumstances.

I wouldn’t ride those. Surface corrosion is one thing but it looks like a crack could propagate easily from the damage.
