Not sure Niall. The tubeless ones are very snug in my experience (and at launch were called out on Geek Warning as such so it’s not just me).
I fortunately have access to a wheel with a traditional deep internal channel (pre-tubeless) so i installed on that with a tube at a decent pressure for a few days and that seemed to stretch them a small amount.
It’s a good argument to use the tube-type version of the same tyre if you aren’t interested in tubeless IMHO
In terms of mounting, seating and durability, i found the hutchinson fusion 5 (blackbird’s predecessor, i think) pretty good. I will likley go for Blackbird All Season on my winter bike when i need to change from the F5.
I am convinced that flat frequency for different tires varies significantly based on where you ride and what hazards you encounter. I’ve switched between Conti and Pirelli over the years based on this.
I ran 30mm Blackbird’s which were great, they only lasted one year of fine weather riding (switched to a-zero 4s for the winter). I’m running GP5000s TRs now and the ease of installation is better than anything I’ve used previously (must have been running road tubeless for around 15 years). The Blackbird’s felt more compliant than the GP5000s. I found the Vittoria N.ext to be too fragile for riding on Welsh roads, they’re super ride with however.
I have those (I.e. not the TLR variant), and have no issues fitting them onto my rims, I think 23mm internal hooked?
