They have specific routes for cyclists to use coming into and leaving Barri Vell, and areas you have to dismount and walk during the day and evening. https://web.girona.cat/documents/20147/271997/Triptic-cicloturisme-Girona-ENG.pdf
Bumping this great thread back up. I’ll be in Girona for the first time next month - a solo 4 day visit between work obligations. Looking forward to some big rides, good food, and simple low key accommodation. Any specific recommendations on road bike rentals and accommodation for a solo traveler without a car? Looks like lots of options, curious to hear experiences from folks on the forum.
I suspect you’re going at a popular time of year, so availability may be a deciding factor. I would just shop around - see what’s available, at what price, and pick whichever you like the look of most (applies to both bikes and accommodation).
In terms of bike rental, I’ve used both Trek and Eat Sleep Cycle. Both were fine, as I’m sure pretty much any of the other options would be.
In terms of accommodation, I’ve used Bravissimo Apartments and AirBnB, and both worked fine. Bravissimo have an office in the old town where you can leave luggage etc., so can be handy if you have awkward flight times. Again, there are lots of other options depending on what you’re after, and, assuming you check reviews etc., I’m sure there are other good options too.
