Reddish-Pink Breathe Right Strips

What’s with the Reddish-Pink Breathe Right Strips on so many riders in the Tour this year? I get the function in theory, though doubt it in practice. But the real question is why these guys choose that color. I keep thinking they are sunburned, or their cheeks have just gone pale, and then I realize it’s a nasal strip. Need the back story from the boys on the ground in France.

At some point I heard that Visma were wearing pink ones as a nod to Simon Philip Yates’ giro victory.

That makes sense, even if it is a terrible tribute. I’m seeing white nasal strips on Visma today (Stage 18). Don’t tell me they have a box of yellow ones just in case they beat Pogacar.

Ant McCrossan said on the stage today that they were part of the Airofit
system VLAB has a partnership with, but that can’t possibly be right.

From Instagram ad targeting I believe it’s Histrip.

Even if these are all placebo, the feeling makes it feel like you’re taking in so much more oxygen.

I just saw a similar question asked on reddit.

Apparently there is some benefit for breathing but also when eating or sucking down a gel.

Some commenters also said they’ve noticed an improvement in recovery after a hard effort.

Those strips look bad, and in that reddish-pink color the riders look like gin drunks. Remember Lady Elaine from Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood?
