I’m building up a Light Bike 88mm rim. I built one in the past with a “normal” length nipple driver and it was a pain. I’m looking for suggestions for a nipple driver long enough to handle the rim depth. I’m agnostic about interface type - I haven’t bought any spokes or nipples yet.
For really deep dish rims, I use a spoke threaded into the head of the nipple. For others I use a Torx T7 or T6 screwdriver that is pushed in to the head of the nipple.
To clarify, I assume you mean:
- thread nipple upside down onto extra ‘tool’ spoke, now 1-2 mm threads protrude from nipple.
- Thread second nipple onto tiny stub, facing right side up.
- feed into rim and onto spoke laced to hub. only 2-3 turns needs
- once all nipples attached to spokes, use long screwdriver w/ modified tip for nipple driving.
