Loctite BB threads instead of facing?

Posted on the BBinfinite insta recently -

Anyone tried this? Curious if it will actually work, can’t get near a LBS to get an older frame checked over for facing, so was thinking about giving this a go.

Its a no from me, but I do have a facing tool.

BB facing is such a satisfying job to do btw. Seeing a painted BB face, taking off a layer to see it is not sqaure and continuing until you get a perfectly square shiny surface will never be a boring job for me.

What are your opinions about manufacturers like Specialized explicitly saying that their BBs don’t need to be faced/chased out of the box?

I follow their recommendation and will not void a warranty unless the customer explicity signs off on me doing the work.

I used to do this specifically with Campy bb cups. However, the thing is that the installation is still hand tight, not completely loose. Also the bearing widths are quite narrow, and a generous slip fit. Those bearings aren’t straightening out a slightly misaligned cup. It might help a frame that’s grossly out of alignment, but then I ask why is that frame getting Campy?

Because Campy works well. Because there are people who like and want Campy. There are loads of reasons.

What I meant was why would someone invest Campy parts onto a frame that is grossly out of alignment, as in Campy parts deserve better.
