Indoor Trainer-optimised bike mods/tips

I have an old aluminium Orbea that has been retired from outdoor riding and has served as my trainer bike for 10 years or so now. Its care has been somewhat neglected other than chain maintenance, but last week some trainer issues prompted me to look at the bike more closely.
I found obvious oxidisation and blistering paint, some cables damaging the frame under the bottom bracket, and just a generally old and neglected frame.

I’ve decided to optimise this bike for how I use it by stripping the paint, converting it to 1x to reduce cables, and removing the brakes. I’ve previously removed the bar tape on Ronan’s hot tip and yes, there was lots of oxidation under there. I already use waxed chains.

Has anyone else modded a bike for purely indoor use? Any other ideas to keep them as low-maintenance as possible and avoid sweat and environment- related issues?

full length cable housing will prolong cable life for trainer use.

That seems like a good option. I’ll need to bypass some cable stops but given the final result wasn’t going to be pretty anyway this fits the brief. Thanks!
