Hello, the shifting on my 11/32 Shimano, in the last 4 or so easiest gears, is a bit reluctent when on the turbo trainer. It works fine out on the road. It hasn’t always been an issue but is more consistent now, any ideas?
It’s not unusual for their to be a small difference in indexing between the trainer and the wheel, just as there may be a small difference when swapping between wheelsets if you have more than one. Normally easily resolved by half a turn of the barrel adjuster.
How old are the chain and the cassette? Mixing a worn chain with new cassette (or vice-versa) can lead to suboptimal shifting.
Currently working well between my two wheelsets.
Would I have to adjust the electronic derailleur each time I want to use it on the turbo? Or is it possible 1 small micro adjustment would fix the issue on the turbo without affecting overall road shifting?
It is a new chain (and wheelset cassette), I’ve had the turbo cassette for…a few years, but only use it a few months in the winter.
Have you tried swapping the cassette on the trainer with the one from one of your two wheelsets?
Good shout, let me try this and I’ll report back.
Should have paid attention to the video!
Assuming the problem is the indexing , then it is possible that you could find a micro adjustment setting that works adequately on both. Alternatively, a neater solution might be to shim out the cassette on either the trainer or your wheels to match. They don’t seem especially common, but suitable shims are available to buy e.g. Cassette 0,2mm shim spacer kit - 5pc. | eBay UK (NB - I wouldn’t want to go any thicker than 0.2mm, in fact I’d prefer 0.1mm if you can find it to enable precise alignment).
