If you want to use the native MacOS Filer, the MacDroid app works nicely. Not cheap though.
For persistent Garmin Express issues (this app is known to be temperamental), running Windows in a VM can be a solution. But a relatively complicated one for solving Garmin Express issues I would agree. I use a Windows VM on my M2 Mac Air for some map generating tasks so no biggie. Fortunately, Garmin Express is running nicely on my Mac. I only use it for map updates and parameter input for widgets/apps, although the latter sometimes only works properly on the Windows version. Firmware updates run well on wifi.
