Hi All,

A bit of a long shot but has anyone experienced Dynamic Galatic Grease seizing a (headset) bearing? I recently pulled my bike off the trainer for a clean and maintenance but found the headset very sluggish, upon finishing the cleaning and pulling the headset, the lower bearing(incl the grease inside) and grease around the bearing was more like glue then grease. I’ve never had anything like this happen and I’ve been maintaining my bikes myself for the last 10+ years, the only thing I can think of is a recent swap of grease brand. Thanks for the input.

That sounds a bit like the Shimano Acera MTB levers that the grease hardens and gums up if not regularly used.

Dynamic Galactic Grease. This might be the issue?

For those that might not be familiar with Dynamic Galactic Grease. It is a biodegradable, plant-based grease. This is not a petroleum based product.

I have tried two biodegradable, plant-based grease products with similar unimpressive results.

Check this thread here in the Escape Community regarding biodegradable grease and issues. [Eco grease?](https://community.escapecollective.com/t/eco-grease/6062)

Some greases separate relatively easily, letting the oil run out and leaving the thickener. I suspect this is what happened to your bearing. I can’t think of an application where that characteristic would be useful, so I’d toss that grease and try something else.

Thanks for the quick input, I moved over to the Motorex 2000, I was using the Dynamic grease while waiting for Motorex to be available.

My experience with two different biodegradable grease products was not the typical separation of thickener and base oil. My observation was the grease sort of a thin emulsified sort stuff that was not a natural thinning of grease. This happened in the first few months with new product. I am talking in the bearing, not the tube.

This seems to be a pretty well documented issue regarding grease stability issues particularly with heat and known oxidative instability with vegetable based lubricants.

I have confidence these issues along with other noted discrepancies find technological advancements.
