As a PSA for y’all, here’s my thoughts on the Varia Vue. It’s already saved a couple of readers £460 down the tubes. Some will like it I’m sure.

Your summary unfortunately seems to ring true for both the rear and now the front Varia camera units: “Alas, the perfect or even pretty fabulous all-in-one camera-plus-light eludes the cycling world once again.” I’d be OK with separate units (v. an all-in-one unit) but am yet to be aware of “even pretty fabulous” safety camera solutions which have sufficient battery life for reasonably long training and group rides (3+ hours). I used a Cyclic Fly6 for some time and that has decent battery life, but image quality isn’t any better than the Varia rear camera. Does any of you out there have any suggestions?
I use a few years old GoPro in the back and my newer GoPro in the front. Or my 360 GoPro on the drop bar or helmet. Not perfect solutions, but an older GoPro is surprisingly cheap and I have the newer for other pursuits anyway, so it works out.
