Garmin product support timescale

A friend of mine is looking at buying a Zumo XT2 for motorcycling adventures, and just asked me how long Garmin support their hardware for. I know that, for instance, Google only support Pixel phones for about 4 years, but it occurs to me that I don’t know and have never thought about Garmin headsets from that perspective. It goes without saying that all older units reach a point when new software provides functions that their hardware can’t accommodate, but I don’t ever recall Garmin officially withdrawing support from any product.

Any insight or thoughts on this, please?

I have had multiple Garmin products and the only problem I’ve ever had with them failing to support a product is on the GPS-12, as in their original consumer GPS. I bought it back in the 90’s. As of April 2019 the date became incorrect once it reached its limit in “weeks”. Otherwise it still works fine. I wouldn’t worry.

I have a Garmin car GPS dating back to my flip phone days. I can still get map and software updates for it.
