Garmin IQ Store

Anyone here with experience of developing apps or widgets for the Garmin IQ Store?

I recently built a wheel for my wife’s tricycle recumbent, with a BoostBike motor and she loves it. Only downside is that to look at the motor stats and select between it’s Eco and Boost mode one must either use a phone app (not so convenient when actually riding) or its wireless display (which is more handlebar clutter that only shows motor data, not even basic odometer).

Am wondering if it might be possible to show the motor data and mode switch on a Garmin. Might even dust off some very ancient programming skills and have a go myself. A bit of coaching or guidance (even if it’s “don’t bother, it’s a nightmare”) would be good!

Tbh, Claude (Anthropic’s AI) will probably write 95% of the code for you. I find Claude better than the others for coding, as it comments it all and tells you what it’s doing.

I think AI would only be able to handle it if there is a published API for interacting with the BoostBike motor. If the BoostBike motor uses the LEV ANT+ profile, then there is an existing Garmin app that supports that profile.

Good tip thanks, but looks like Boost doesn’t use the LEV Ant+ profile but something proprietary and unpublished.

Check if they still accept developers on the IQ store. I can remember that when I got my Garmin 1050 I absolutely hated the workout screen and thought about developing a datascreen. However, the biggest hurdle was to get a developer account that is allowed to do anything. I gave up as it seemed impossible for anything this size.
