As part of a Tailfin install, I loosened and then torqued back down a SRAM X0 Transmission rear derailleur. I followed Tailfin’s Youtube instructions, SRAM’s Youtube instructions and referenced another transmission install video just to be certain I was doing the steps properly.
With all steps complete, this is what I was seeing:
Bit of a gap between the left-hand side of the knurled ring and the right hand side of the derailleur.
Is that gap normal?
Google showed me some reddit posts with a similar question, but the answers weren’t satisfying.

I (stupidly) didn’t take a photo of the installed derailleur beforehand, but I did spend a good few minutes looking it over to ensure I knew to what state I would be returning and I’m 99% sure this gap did not exist.
Fwiw, bike rides fine, shift fines, no strange noises and things feel solid when I put my hand on the derailleur or wheel and try to move stuff back and forth.
