Enduit Sausage

Laughing out loud listening to Stage 17 Golden Hour. I too have accidently ordered Enduit thinking I was getting a gourmet spicy sausage. I feel Iain’s horror. If I had to sum it up in one word. “Barnyard”.

Anyone else got an Enduit horror story??

No Enduit story but as a classically trained chef I was a bit horrified listening to the boys complain about French food. I go to France often and have exactly the opposite experience eating on the continent. Generally I find it easier to find good food than in America or god forbid the UK.

I think they can tell if it’s grass fed or not

I have merely smelled Andouillette and that was enough.

The way I remember it being described (also in my experience): in France, you CAN get really good food. In Italy, you WILL get really good food.

Just looked them up on Wikipedia and saw this gem:

As with all lower intestine sausages, andouillettes are to some extent an acquired taste

So is it different than chitlins?

I remember my dad ordering an Andouille sausage in Troyes once. He couldn’t finish it and said it was like eating a willy nin a condom haha

I found it fascinating that Iain believed his subsequent nausea to be psychosomatic. We’ve all been there - usually because someone we have spent time with gets sick and we’re convinced we have it too.

If Iain was a Pokemon he’d be weak to psychic type damage

I just found this fabulous quote, attributed to Édouard Herriot, formery mayor of Lyon, related to Andouillette and I’ll leave it right here:

La politique, c’est comme l’andouillette, ça doit sentir un peu la merde, mais pas trop.
