I work it through link by link by hand. Then put it on the bike, spin through the gears on the stand, and then ride it. It takes about 20 minutes of riding max before the chain is at peak efficiency.

Give the chain a quick wipe as soon as you remove it from the wax to take off a bunch of the external wax on the sideplates, which makes break-in much quicker.
Whatever you do (I roll it around a dowel myself), don’t do it inside: it leaves wax flakes everywhere!
In Aus, wheelie bin handles work a treat to run the chain over.
