I saw Dave reviewed the Remco but has anyone compared it with the Feedbsck e-lift? Size and footprint. Operational ease, performance, clamping etc. The Feedbsvk is much more expensive. Has Remco added any improvements since the review?
I got the Feedback Sport lift, it came in last week. So I have not worked on it. Prices were going up, and I’ve been pleased with their quality. My shoulders will be happy this winter doing bike maintenance.
Replying to myself.
I spoke to Remco and they did update the lever to a heavier duty version which apparently is now stronger then the Park one Dave recommended (the heavier one ships with new purchases but the part can be bought for I think $60 to retrofit older ones) .
They also sell as a package the EVT right arm made by a Japanese company. Apparently a bit lighter, not “quite” as smooth and different welding etc. That arm is $250.
After examining my options I liked the user interface of the Remco better than the Feedback (which can be bought at a discount by members) and ended up ordering the Remco lift and baseplate and their 2” chuck. I bought directly from EVT their hand built in America arm as they have it discounted to US$350 plus shipping (Remco ships everything free).
Why do I like the Remco set up better? 1. I like the EVT arm better. 2. I like where the up/down controls are mounted on the Remco better. 3. I like that I can push a preset button - there are 3 - and send the lift up or down while I grab a tool etc.
Now of course Dave will publish a review and come to a different conclusion but frankly they both look great. With the discount the Feedbsck lift is less expensive.
Update: I have been using the Remco lift. I really like it. Much better than my feedback hd tripod mechanical lift. Some tools just give you joy to use and when pressing the up button it cheers me up. It goes low enough with my xl frame size mountain bikes I don’t even need to lift them. The EVT right hand is really good too. As mentioned above I bought the original hand made one from evt directly but Remcomsellsmamjaoanesemlicensed version that basically is identical for $100 less and is included in the free shipping. Remco upgraded their clamping mechanism so thrmbikemdoesntmpivotmwjenmlifted - no reason to get the Park one. I understand from them early next year they will have a lift that goes higher but that isn’t necessary for me. Set up was simple except for dealing with their 65lb base plate. Take care to note that the side with the recessed bolt holes goes downward which isn’t marked or noted anywhere other than that very simple and sturdy. Remco also provided great and responsive customer service.
I too asked Dave, he’s working on a review coming. But I live in Canada and it was going to be considerably cheaper to buy a Canadian stock Feedback Sport lift. I don’t think that there will be a huge difference as I just work on my own bikes. But Dave may prove me wrong.
I think either will be great. It is amazing though how using an electric assist adds over the regular bike stands. Even on my lighter bikes. I’m my case it also solved a footprint issue too as the metal base plate took up much less space than my tripod. I’m sure i would be really happy with either but I’m very pleased with the Remco. And don’t forget the discount that being a member gives you on the Feedbsck.
Here’s the lonely Feedbsck HD and the newly installed Remco.
This is an update on my previous post. I have now worked on three bikes.
My Pinion bikepacking bike, which is why I wanted a lift, it mostly went up and I fixed a shifter cable and fixed and serviced my front brake.
Second one is my gravel bike that needed new cables, housing and bar tape (also a bottom bracket bearing) the ability to move the bike up and down so everything was at eye level and also have a “pro” clamp that I could spin the bike was a revelation of home bike mechanics of 45 years!
Third was a check over of the fat bike and cleaning out the tires and adding sealant. NBD.
The Feedback Pro electric lift is a luxury item, I put new wheels and shorter road cranks on the back burner to make budget, it makes the work so much more enjoyable.
