Alu UDH hanger in Ti frame

Greetings fellow Escapees!

I have just purchased a Framesandgear direct mount UDH hanger (FG-UDH). This will be going into my Enigma Escape titanium frame.

I know that SRAM specifies no grease to be applied, except INSIDE the UDH bolt (where the thru axle threads in). But their UDH hanger is made of plastic.

As the Framesandgear hanger is machined from 7075 Alu, should I be applying something to the OUTSIDE of the hanger barrel?

I am trying to eliminate all potential sources of creaking/clicking/ticking (which my Ti frame likes to transmit).

Thanks for your advice!

If you grease it, dirt will eventually stick to it and it might make some noise. If you don’t grease it, dirt will eventually get inside and it might make some noise. It just doesn’t matter in my opinion if you clean the interface from time to time.

I would have thought there would need to be some form of treatment to reduce the risk of galvanic corrosion.

The hangers seem to be anodized which should act as a sufficient barrier. I never grease classic hangers in Ti frames and I haven’t seen any hints of corrosion happening.
